Reverend A. A. Henderson organized Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church the third Sunday in July 1940 in North Miami Beach, Florida. The Reverend A. A. Henderson served as Pastor from July 1940 to November,1941

The Reverend I. S. Clark, Sr. was called as Pastor on November 30, 1941 while he was still a licensed Minister. Reverend Clark was ordained on the first Sunday in January 1942 by Reverend Black and Reverend Dove. At that time, Gethsemane had only three (3) member, Sister Elretea Clark, Sister Mary Burke and Deacon Collins. Deacon Collins was the only deacon at that time.

Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church has been serving the community for 79 years in the same location.

We have a 4-fold Ministry to meet the needs of our members in the community.

We are commissioned to carry the word throughout all nations teaching them to observe all things. (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19).

We are committed to teaching all men in all wisdom, so that he may be presented perfect in Jesus Christ (Matthew: 16:24, Colossians 1:28).

We are connected with one another that we all speak the same thing, so that we have no division among us. (John 15:1-2, 1^st Corinthians 1:10).

We are one body combined in our calling, for two are better than one, dwelling together in Unity. (Psalms 133:1, Ecclesiastes 4:9).
